Are Cataracts Affecting Your Vision? Let’s Find Out
Sometimes people are hesitant to make medical appointments because they fear what they might learn about their health. However, the sooner conditions are identified, the better chance you have at treatments to improve your quality of life. Cataracts are an excellent example of this fact.
Most people develop cataracts at some point after age 60. Left untreated, cataracts can cause blindness but there is no need to settle for this outcome. Cataract surgery is a common procedure that is very effective at restoring vision clarity.
But first you need to know if cataracts are truly affecting your vision. Our Cataract Evaluation at The Wright Eye Center is designed to do just that.
Common Tests During Cataract Evaluations
- Overview of your vision using a visual acuity test
- Dilated eye exam to assess the condition of your eye lenses and your retinal health (back of your eye)
- Review of any refractive error you might have (nearsightedness, farsightedness and/or astigmatism)
- Eye pressure test to identify glaucoma
Your eyes will be dilated during this visit, so we recommend bringing someone along with you to drive you home.
After the preliminary tests are completed, our doctors will discuss the results and explain any problem areas that might exist. If cataracts are identified, he might recommend cataract surgery in Colorado Springs. However, we may actually suggest that you wait to have surgery if your condition is still in the early stages and your vision isn’t interrupting your daily life. Honesty and transparency: that’s what you can expect to receive from our office.
